SAINT

For mom…

---

Childhood filled, tears and fear,

Amidst unrest, Mother is near.

Cradles me, tremble her sway,

Safe place, for me to play.

Beneath smiles, pain deeply scars,

Ghost of a man, leaves us marred.

Amazing Grace, how sweet her sound,

That loves a wretch like me.

Though I’m lost, she's always found,

I’m blind, but she will always see.

Though I walk through shadows, consumed by despair,

In every dark corner, Mother’s Love is there.

Rockin' in the corner, my mind gone astray,

She holds space for grace in my disarray.

Cries while I lie, her spirit unbroken,

Prays while I play, words unspoken.

Hey mom, I remember that day,

You showed me how to build a safe place where I can play

Look my dear, through these glass doors,

All this world is yours

Make anything you want and be what you wanna be,

Build a space from chaos so you can be free

Hey mom, I did it again,

Got a hold of a thing with something slipped in

Oh, don’t worry child, sit right here,

I’lI watch over you till your mind is clear

Just relax and and I’ll take care,

I know how life is unfair

Hey mom, I know she looks good at first sight

But there’s something underneath that gives me a fright

Don’t worry, dear, your time will come,

For you I see another one

One to take care of you just as I do,

One to make you better so you don’t have to hurt you

Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder,

Consider all, the words she does say,

I see the scars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Her caring throughout the universe displayed,

Through it all, how great Thou art!

Mother reaches out when I cause harm,

Drawing me into her forgiving psalm.

Life's chaos leads me astray,

Yet, words of wisdom light the way.

Tells me I can do anything, for good, she holds,

Belief in my worth, more precious than gold.

Then sings my soul, my mother's love, to Thee,

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my mother's love, to Thee,

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Holy, holy, holy! Mother, my Saint Almighty!

Early in the morning my song shall rise to Thee;

Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!

Mothers protection, praying over me!

The choices I make are mine alone,

In life's grey fray, Mother's mercy is shown.

Through highs and lows, through hope and fears,

Her gentle melody echoes through the years.

Hey Mom, I hope you read this from time to time

Especially when these are taken from your mind

I know I didn’t make it easy for you

And I’m sorry for what I put you through

I’m so grateful and I hope you see

How wonderful you treated me

I say this with love and with the deepest care

I’ll never let you sit at a wall and stair

You gave me the Grace to get me through,

So I want to say…thank you
